Russell Wilson

So who will be this year’s Geno Smith? Interesting that Wilson shows up on this list as Smith was his replacement last year in Seattle. Those who point to the system as the reason Wilson had so much success all those years as a Seahawk should also point to Sean Payton heading the system in Bronco country these days.

Wilson has been around for a while, and has proven himself as one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL. Last season wasn’t his best year, obviously, and that could have been for many reasons. This year, there’s a new coaching staff in town, and in order for Denver to start moving in the right direction, you can bet the first thing on the agenda is to get Wilson back to being Wilson.

Sean Payton may or may not be the quarterback whisperer, but if there’s anyone out there that can right the ship, it’s him.

Running Back

D’Andre Swift

Miles Sanders moved on to Carolina this offseason, and in doing so, left a void in the Eagles backfield. A draft day trade saw Philadelphia bring in a talented runner and receiver in Swift. He’s had his fair share of injuries over his career, but this is just the type of opportunity to showcase exactly what he can do on the football field.

He’ll be operating in a system that features a premiere offensive line, an extremely talented quarterback on the rise, and receivers that would make any defensive coaching staff raise their eyebrows. Oh, and they don’t mind running the football consistently. And although they didn’t use their backs in the passing game often, they didn’t have Swift. He’s a more than capable pass catcher, and given that ability, he may allow the coaching staff to add a few wrinkles here and there.

If Swift can stay healthy, he could be in line for a big year. All the pieces are there for success, otherwise.

Wide Receiver

Kadarius Toney

This one could be big. A former first round pick, the Chiefs were able to pry Toney away from the Giants last season, and he didn’t disappoint. He has the kind of speed, quick burst, and elusiveness that Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid missed when Tyreek Hill went to Miami.

Toney couldn’t be in a better position as a wide receiver. He has the tools and abilities to be extremely productive, a quarterback who is considered one of the best, if not the best, in the game, and a mastermind coach in Andy Reid, who can work magic with getting his playmakers the football in positions where they can succeed. It’s up to Toney to stay healthy, and on the field. If he can fight off the injury bug, which has been his biggest detractor, the sky’s the limit.

Toney is the type of receiver that can make defenders miss in a phone booth. With the receiver room in Kansas City needing someone to step up out of the shadows this year, he should have every opportunity to display that ability this coming season.

Tight End

Dalton Kincaid

It’s difficult to include rookies on a list like this, but Kincaid is a special type of player. A first round pick out of Utah, the Bills are very high on him. He has the type of skills to be a very productive player in the Buffalo offense including very good hands, athleticism, and is considered a good route runner.

Did I mention he plays in one of the best offenses in football? Having Josh Allen throwing you the football is a really good start to your career, and there are other weapons around him that should allow him space to operate, and use his abilities.

If Kincaid can handle the physicality, and become a good blocker, it will allow him to stay on the field. Those reps could help open up a big year for a talented newcomer.
